Frequently Asked Questions
About Neurodiverse Coaching
Choosing coaching is an important decision and an investment in your life, your marriage, or both. You should understand what to expect, how I work, and where coaching adds value.
I have answered the questions I hear most often below. If yours is not included, schedule a free consultation. Tell me what is happening and ask what you need to ask. I’m here to support you and work with you to achieve your goals.
Getting Started
-
The free consultation is a 30-minute online conversation about what is happening, what you have already tried, and what you want to change.
We will talk about the challenges affecting your marriage, relationships, work, family, career, business, or daily life. From there, we can determine where coaching can add the most value for you. There is no obligation to continue.
-
Yes. Your first 30-minute consultation is free, with no obligation to purchase coaching afterward.
-
If you are not sure whether coaching is right for you, start with the free consultation.
If you are ready to begin, book a 60-minute session. That gives us time to get clear on what is happening, identify what needs to change, define your goals, and build a practical strategy to move you forward.Engagements range from two weeks for focused audits to several months for comprehensive transformation.
-
Yes. Many wives begin alone because their husband is not ready, does not believe coaching is necessary, or does not want to participate. Husbands can also begin individually when their wife is not ready to take part.
You can still make real progress and change your marriage. We can identify what is happening, change how you communicate and respond, make stronger decisions, and focus on the parts of the pattern within your control. If your husband or wife decides to participate later, we can move into couples coaching at any time.Yes, we remain actively involved until solutions are fully operational and staff are confident.
-
All coaching is provided virtually. Sessions can be held by video, voice only, or text depending on what makes it easiest for you to communicate openly. I typically utilize Zoom, but other options are available such as Proton Meet, Phone Only, Facebook, etc. If there is a concern about the platform, we can work within your needs.
Between-session text-based coaching support is also available to established clients who want additional guidance, accountability, or strategy for navigating situations as they happen.
-
No. Coaching is 100 percent virtual, allowing clients to participate from home or another private location.
Private or group in person intensives are available, but are customized by need. Please contact me to discuss further.
-
Yes. I work with clients throughout the United States and internationally, including clients in Canada, Europe, Australia, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world.
A wide variety of times are available to accommodate people across the globe. All prices are listed in US dollars.

Therapy and coaching have different scopes, purposes, and methods.
Therapy is clinical treatment. Licensed mental health professionals may assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, trauma, psychological symptoms, and emotional concerns. Therapy often examines past experiences, thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns to understand how they continue to affect someone today.
Coaching is non-clinical and focused on creating the future. We start with where you are now, define where you want to go, identify what is getting in the way, and build the practical strategies, decisions, structure, and accountability needed to move forward.
The primary questions are different:
Therapy: “What has happened, how is it affecting you, and what treatment or clinical support is needed?”
Coaching: “Where are you now, where do you want to go, and what is the best strategy for getting there?”
There can be overlap in the subjects discussed. Therapy can address current and future concerns, and coaching may include conversations about the past. The difference is what we do with that information.
If a past experience comes up in coaching, we may consider how it affects a current pattern, decision, or goal. We do not process trauma, diagnose a condition, or provide mental health treatment.
I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. I work with people to bridge the gap between where they are today and the life, marriage, career, or future they want to build.
Some people need coaching, some need therapy, and some receive value from both.
-
No. Coaching is not covered by health insurance because it is a non-clinical service, not healthcare or mental health treatment. I do not diagnose a condition, bill under medical or mental health treatment codes, or submit insurance claims. All coaching services are private pay.
Marriage and Relationship Coaching
-
No. I meet with husbands and wives, but I also work with boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancés, and couples preparing for marriage.
Coaching before marriage can add significant value by identifying differences in communication, expectations, finances, responsibilities, faith, family relationships, routines, and long-term goals before those differences become recurring problems.
-
No. I work with neurodiverse and neurotypical individuals and couples.
Some clients are navigating autism, ADHD, or suspected neurodivergence. Others are neurotypical and want a direct, strategic approach to communication, decisions, accountability, relationships, career, or daily life.
Sometimes a husband or wife suspects the other may be on the spectrum, while the other person rejects the possibility or is opposed to considering it. I can recognize neurodiverse characteristics and account for how they may affect communication and daily life without diagnosing, labeling, or forcing a conversation someone is not ready to have. We can work with the patterns you are living with, even when there is no diagnosis or agreement about what may be causing them.
I also work with individuals and couples who specifically want Christian, Bible-based coaching. When you want faith incorporated, we can include Scripture, prayer, biblical principles, and practical action throughout our work.
A diagnosis, neurodiverse relationship, or Christian faith is not required to work with me.
-
Coaching addresses the real-life patterns, decisions, and responsibilities affecting how you function together. Every marriage and relationship is different, but common areas include:
Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
Different communication and processing styles
Strategies for shutdowns, meltdowns, overwhelm, and sensory overload
Executive-function challenges
Unequal responsibilities and mental load
Household routines, organization, and follow-through
Boundaries, expectations, and accountability
Preparing for difficult conversations
Decision-making and shared priorities
Parenting and extended-family expectations
Finances and financial decision-making
Creating more consistent connection
Rebuilding stability after repeated conflict
Identifying approaches that repeatedly fail
Developing practical plans for predictable problems
Applying Scripture and biblical principles when Christian coaching is requested
This is not therapy. I do not diagnose either person, treat mental health conditions, or process trauma. We stay focused on what is happening, what is not working, what each person can control, and what needs to happen next.
I do not hand you a generic communication worksheet and expect it to fix your marriage. We identify the patterns driving the problem, determine what each person is responsible for, and build a practical strategy with specific actions and accountability. Everything I do is customized for each client.
-
Yes. I have had clients come to me ready for divorce who have turned their marriages around. Some began coaching alone. Others came together. Being in serious trouble does not automatically mean your marriage is beyond change.
When a marriage reaches this point, generic coaching is rarely enough. We take an honest look at what is happening, identify the patterns keeping you stuck, determine what each person can control and must take responsibility for, and build a practical strategy for moving forward.
I cannot guarantee that your marriage will be restored. No coach can. Change requires honesty, participation, accountability, and a willingness to do something different.
Coaching is not marriage and family therapy. I do not diagnose mental health conditions or treat trauma. If your situation requires therapy, medical care, legal guidance, or another licensed service, I will tell you directly. I will also be honest about where I can add value.
-
Yes. One person cannot do the work for both people, but progress does not have to wait for both people to participate.
When you change how you communicate, respond, set expectations, and make decisions, the pattern begins to change. Individual coaching allows us to identify what is happening, stop repeating approaches that are not working, prepare for difficult conversations, establish boundaries, and build a practical strategy around what you can control.
Your husband or wife may decide to participate later, but you do not have to remain stuck while you wait.
-
Yes. I work directly with autistic, ADHD, and otherwise neurodivergent men who want to strengthen their marriage, understand their wife more fully, communicate more effectively, manage responsibilities, navigate overwhelm, or make progress in other areas of life.
I often connect especially well with men on the spectrum, including men with high IQs, analytical minds, and strong interests in technology, science, systems, or complex problem-solving. I share many of these interests myself, so the connection is genuine and natural. I respect the depth of their knowledge, enjoy learning what interests them, and understand the value of approaching problems logically.
Coaching does not have to begin with emotional language. We can start with facts, patterns, systems, what is not working, and the result you want to create. The work is practical, direct, and built around strategies that make sense to you.
-
Yes. I work with neurotypical men and women, including husbands and wives navigating neurodiverse marriages and people whose goals are not related to neurodivergence at all.
You decide who attends and how often. A husband or wife can attend alone, you can attend together, or you can use a combination of individual and couples sessions. You can schedule regularly, occasionally, or only when a specific situation needs attention. I do not require both people to participate or place you on a fixed schedule.
-
Couples coaching addresses what is happening between two people. We identify the patterns driving conflict, translate different communication styles, define expectations and responsibilities, prepare for difficult conversations, plan for shutdowns or overload, and build better ways to handle situations that repeatedly go wrong.
Individual coaching focuses on what you can control. We work on how you communicate and respond, the decisions you make, the boundaries you set, the goals you want to reach, and the actions you need to take.
Both are practical, strategic, and action-oriented. You decide who attends each session and how often. You may attend alone, attend together, or use a combination of individual and couples sessions based on what will add the most value.
-
No. I remain neutral.
I am not here to declare a winner, make one person the villain, or tell either person only what they want to hear. I am also not going to pretend that every situation is automatically 50/50. Neutrality means looking honestly at what is happening and holding each person responsible for what is actually theirs.
When only one person attends, I recognize that I am hearing one perspective. I take that experience seriously, but I do not assume it tells the entire story. We explore the different possibilities for what may be happening with the husband or wife who is not present, what may be driving the pattern, and how those possibilities should affect the response. I do not diagnose, label, or assign motives to someone I have not met.
When both people attend, I listen to both, challenge both when necessary, and say the hard things when they need to be said. No one is perfect. Each person brings strengths, weaknesses, experiences, decisions, and responsibilities into a marriage or relationship.
The goal is not blame. The goal is to identify what is driving the problem, determine what each person can change, and build a strategy that moves the relationship forward.
-
No. Autism, ADHD, sensory overload, executive dysfunction, and nervous-system overwhelm may explain certain behaviors. They do not remove personal responsibility or excuse intimidation, violence, coercion, repeated cruelty, or an unwillingness to change harmful behavior.
At the same time, not every shutdown, meltdown, communication failure, or painful interaction is intentional harm. Understanding the difference matters.
I look honestly at the full pattern without minimizing anyone’s experience or automatically assuming the worst about either person.
Autism, ADHD, Giftedness and Diagnosis
-
No. A formal diagnosis is not required.
Sometimes a husband or wife suspects that neurodivergence is affecting the marriage, while the other person rejects the possibility or does not want to pursue an evaluation. Coaching does not have to stop because you disagree about a diagnosis.
I do not diagnose autism, ADHD, or any other condition. However, I can recognize characteristics commonly associated with neurodivergence and consider how differences in communication, processing, executive function, sensory needs, and responses to stress may be affecting your marriage.
-
No. Coaching is not diagnosis, and I will not tell you that you, your husband, or your wife has autism, ADHD, or another condition.
A formal diagnosis comes from a qualified professional. Coaching focuses on the experiences and patterns affecting your life and on developing practical strategies, whether or not a diagnosis exists.
-
Yes. We can discuss the communication differences, sensory needs, executive-function challenges, responses to stress, routines, expectations, and recurring situations you experience.
That is not an evaluation or diagnosis. I do not assess whether someone meets clinical criteria. I do not treat any conditions. We focus on what you are living with, how it is affecting your life, and which practical strategies may create greater value.
-
Yes. Many clients begin in exactly that position.
We focus on what is happening, what you can influence, which approaches are not working, and how to navigate conversations that repeatedly stall or escalate. Progress does not have to wait for your husband or wife to agree with your explanation of the problem.
Who I Work With
-
No. Neurotypical wives and neurodiverse couples make up a significant part of my work, but they are not the only clients I serve.
I also work with:
Neurotypical husbands and wives
Autistic and ADHD husbands and wives
Autistic and ADHD adults
Neurotypical adults
Individuals who suspect they may be neurodivergent
Boyfriends and girlfriends
Fiancés and couples preparing for marriage
Neurodiverse and neurotypical couples
Professionals, leaders, and executives
People navigating burnout, major decisions, or life transitions
Clients seeking general or Christian life coaching
And more…
-
No. You do not have to be married, have a diagnosis, or be in a crisis to receive value from coaching.
Individual coaching can address executive function, organization, routines, accountability, decision-making, confidence, communication, career challenges, leadership, Christian faith, major transitions, and other areas where you want clearer direction and forward movement.
-
Yes. Professional and executive coaching can address leadership challenges, workplace communication, career decisions, organization, competing priorities, executive function, professional growth, and navigating a work environment that does not fit how you think or operate.
The focus remains practical: understand what is affecting performance, determine what needs to change, and build a strategy that produces greater value.
-
I combine lived experience, more than 20 years of leadership experience, formal business education, professional coaching training, Christian faith, and extensive work with neurodiverse and neurotypical clients.
I am myself, in a thriving neurodiverse marriage. I understand neurodiverse relationships from inside one, not only from books or coursework. My own marriage faced severe communication breakdowns, meltdowns, shutdowns, and disconnection before we learned how to understand one another and rebuild.
My approach is neutral, direct, strategic, practical, and highly personalized. I will listen without judgment, but I will also challenge you when needed. We do not stop at identifying the problem. We determine where the greatest value can be created, what needs to happen next, and how to make it work in real life.
Christian Faith-Based Coaching
-
No. Christian faith-based coaching is available when you want your faith to be part of the work, but it is not required.
-
When you want Christian faith incorporated, prayer, Scripture, biblical principles, forgiveness, covenant, humility, wisdom, discernment, and personal responsibility can be part of our work.
Faith is never used to minimize your experience. Christian faith-based coaching should move you toward truth, wisdom, responsibility, stronger decisions, and meaningful transformation. I tell every Christian client to test everything against scripture.
Sessions and Pricing
-
Individual and couples sessions are currently priced the same:
30 minutes: $90
60 minutes: $150
90 minutes: $225
Two hours: $300
All prices are in US dollars.
-
A 60-minute session is the recommended starting point for most new clients.
A 30-minute session works best for a focused question, follow-up, or specific decision. A 90-minute or two-hour session provides more time for complex situations, in-depth planning, or couples who need room to address several connected issues.
If you are unsure, begin with the free consultation.
You are free to book any session length you would like at any time as scheduling permits. Session availability is first come, first serve.
-
There is no single schedule that works for everyone. Frequency depends on your goals, circumstances, urgency, availability, and budget.
Some clients need concentrated support for a specific situation. Others receive more value from ongoing sessions while working through relationship, professional, or life changes.
I do not have any set requirements and allow my clients to set the schedule to accommodate their needs.
-
No long-term package is required for individual or couples sessions. Sessions can be purchased based on the level and frequency of support you need.
Monthly text-based support is a separate subscription option for established clients.
-
Yes. A session can be purchased through the store for yourself or someone else and scheduled afterward.
Gift certificates are available.
-
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling.
Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged or forfeited. Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise agreed in writing. Complete policies are available in the Terms and Conditions.
Between-Session Text Coaching
-
Between-session coaching support provides written guidance for established clients who want additional access between scheduled sessions.
It can be used for accountability, preparing for a difficult conversation, reviewing a recent situation, planning a more effective response, troubleshooting a problem, making a decision, or staying focused on an agreed plan.
Three support levels are available:
Coaching Support: $99 per month
Priority Coaching Support: $249 per month
High-Access Strategic Support: $499 per month
-
Yes. If you hate talking on the phone, do not want to be on video, or communicate more effectively in writing, your coaching sessions can be conducted entirely by text. You do not have to participate in a phone or video session first.
Text-only coaching sessions are available to new and established clients. Monthly between-session coaching support is a separate service designed for clients who want continued access, accountability, and guidance outside their scheduled sessions.
-
No. The monthly subscription provides additional access and coaching support between scheduled sessions. Individual and couples coaching sessions are purchased separately unless a specific offer states otherwise.
If you prefer to communicate entirely through writing, you can book a scheduled coaching session that takes place by text instead of video or voice. A scheduled text-only session is different from the monthly between-session coaching subscription.
-
Response times are not guaranteed.
Coaching Support responses are typically provided during standard business hours. Higher support levels receive greater priority and may include evening or weekend responses when available.
Immediate, continuous, or overnight responses are not guaranteed. Text support is not monitored 24 hours a day and must not be used for emergencies.
